Question: Why is My Cockatiel not Incubating her eggs?? Help please!?
( Back )
Answer #1:
Maybe cause you touched them.
Maybe cause she hungry and left nest for a while.
Maybe she got nervous being watched and decided to abandon them.
Breeding birds should have a closed enclosure they can go into
via a nesting box. And without that secure place some birds just give up.
You can try putting them in a box with a heat lamp and rotate them daily and maybe they will hatch.
But baby birds are a time thing lots of it. and really hard to do.
It's really hard to say why birds refuse their eggs, but it happens and it's nature way. All I can tell you dave
Answer #2:
Well there are many reasons for this. I just know some simple reasons.
1. Someone could of thouched her eggs.
2.There could be something wrong with the eggs. (babbies inside them could be sick)
3. Mabey she whants some privacy when she is incubating
well thats all i know so far well any way goood luck
Answer #3:
You consult a vet
Answer #4:
It takes from 18-21 days for the eggs to hatch, that is from the last egg laid.
If she is not incubating them now, then the reason will be the young are dead in shell(as you have candled them)at some time she may have been disturbed from her nest and the eggs have chilled this would kill any chicks.
All you can do now is to remove the eggs and maybe let her lay again.make sure that she has plenty Cuttle bone and some green vegetables, sweet corn cob Broccoli, etc,
Sorry for your loss, as an ex breeder of Cockatiels for over 40 years I have lost chicks through cats climbing onto the roof of my aviaries disturbing sitting birds.this could have happened with your birds.
