Question: my cockatiel died last week ........ is this normal?
( Back )
Answer #1:
I've just done some research reading some twilight fanfiction and i've made a startling discovery. You're bird has become a vampire.
Answer #2:
Probably the drying muscles pulled the eyelids up. I had a keet die, puking. I believe it needed grit in the gizzard to grind the food. Back then I didn't know that and it didn't get any grit. If the food is not ground small enough to get out of the gizzard it remains too full to let more food in.When food leaves the gizzard it nourishes the bird and then more food goes into the gizzard from the crop. Mine had a full crop of food so the gizzard was not supplying food to the bird.
Answer #3:
are you sure he was dead??? dead things usually dont puke.....and the open their eyes.
cockatiels can develop health problems if not cared for properly. sometimes these problems are life threatening.. birds die every day from starvation, neglect and illness. when he was puking, u should've taken him to the vet immediately. if u get another cockatiel, please learn about them beforehand,
Answer #4:
Open eyes is the natural thing on any dead body. It takes muscles to close the eyes and when the body dies, the eyes stay open. I hope no one reads the answer about grit for parakeets and assumes it to be correct information. It won't take much research to find out that could not be more wrong or more dangerous for a hook bill bird. They do not need grit No wonder this person lost a bird. It seems they know very little about proper diet.
