Answer #1:
If your cockatiel is showing signs of illness, that means he is very sick and near death since parrots are masters at hiding their illness because in the wild, parrots hide their illnesses so predators don't see that they are weak and sick and go after them and sometimes they are even abandon by their flock. Hiding their illnesses are a survival skill they have and even though there are no predators their house, they still hide their illness. It's nothing they can control, it's like how if you have to sneeze, it's hard to hold it in and usually your body forces you to sneeze. It's the same with parrots and hiding their illness. So when do you know when your cockatiel is sick? Here are a few signs of illness.
Fluffing of feathers for long periods of time
Discharge coming from beak, eyes, or cere
Not eating as much
Tail bobbing while resting
Not active
Not them self
Weight loss
Loss of balance
Those are a few common signs of illness. If your cockateil is showing these signs of illness, that means that they are sick and you should take them to the vet. There's not much you can do, but if your bird is sick, you should cover your cockatiels cage and cover 3 sides of it and keep them under a lamp. Also make sure they have fresh food and water. That's all you can really do. If you don't take your cockatiel to the vet, she's going to die. You took responsibility for the bird when you bought her, and it would be irresponsible to not take your cockatiel to the vet. If you had a serious illness, you would be at the doctors by now. It should be the same with any animal and your cockatiel has feelings too, and they would like a chance to live. The truth is, they probably won't survive unless you take them to the vet.
